This is one record not to be proud of.

An Oregon man allegedly had a .778 blood alcohol level when he briefly led police on a chase that ended up in him crashing, according to the New York Daily News.

The Warm Springs Tribal Police Department said that it began pursuing the man on tribal property after being told by local police that a white SUV had been involved in a hit and run at a gas station.

The man was identified as Nathan Danzuka, 28, according to the Smoking Gun.

Police said Danzuka had alcohol in his car and was told to exit, but instead took off for half a mile. The stunt ended when he hit a concrete barrier.

He was taken to a medical centre where it was found he had a blood alcohol level more than nine times the legal limit.

The Smoking Gun said his reading beat the .72 blown by an Oregon woman in 2007 and a .708 in South Dakota by a woman in 2009.

He was allegedly driving on a suspended license resulting from a previous driving while intoxicated charge.
