House Bill 444 passes Ohio House

WLWT 5

May 24, 2016

COLUMBUS —The Ohio House on Tuesday approved House Bill 444, which allows bars to offer free alcohol tasting samples to customers.

The bill allows allows certain liquor permit holders to provide up to four free tasting samples of beer, wine and liquor in a 24-hour period to any person age 21 or older.

A tasting sample is considered to be 2 ounces of beer, 2 ounces of wine or a quarter-ounce of liquor. The samples should be approved on the permit holder’s premises.

House Bill 444 now heads to the Ohio Senate for further consideration.

House Bill 37 was passed earlier this month, with means the cap on the alcohol content will be lifted in Ohio. Previous state laws said that craft beers can contain a maximum of 12 percent alcohol. That limit has been ditched entirely.
