ITGA and the Responsible Retailing Forum have selected six ITGA member communities to participate in the development of an Alcohol Responsibility Program for ITGA members:
1. California Polytechnic State University / San Luis Obispo / Cuesta College, CA
2. University of Colorado / Boulder, CO
3. Miami University / Oxford, OH
4. Oklahoma State University / Stillwater, OK
5. Oregon State University / Corvallis, OR
6. University of Massachusetts / Amherst, MA
The ITGA ARP will be built upon RRForum’s model, developed under funding from the National Institutes of Health, for assisting alcohol beverage licensees to comply with laws barring sales to underage and intoxicated customers. The model engages licensees and their industry partners to work with communities and their higher education institutions in adopting practices reflecting a commitment to professionalism in the sale and service of alcohol beverages. Starting this September, the pilot sites will work with RRForum to adapt the model to the laws and customs of each state and community; develop community-specific community guidelines for responding to fake IDs, impaired customers in need of safe rides home and training needs for licensees; and examine how the program can be sustained through local sponsorship in the following years.
Seventeen proposals were received in response to the May 2016 RFP. Marquette University / Milwaukee, WI – whose work with RRForum and MillerCoors led to the RRForum – ITGA Strategic Alliance, will be included as a seventh site.
