Blue Jays change alcohol policy after beer-throwing incident

New alcohol management measures have been put in place at Rogers Centre.

The Toronto Blue Jays announced a change to their alcohol policy on Sunday, thanks to the ugly beer-throwing incident during last week’s AL Wild Card Game against the Baltimore Orioles.

Fans attending games at the Rogers Centre will no longer be served beer in cans or bottles of any kind throughout the remainder of the postseason. All beer will be poured into plastic cups, according to a release sent out by the Blue Jays.

The new rule was announced as an “enhanced security measure” being put into place by the Blue Jays for the postseason.

Toronto completed the three-game sweep of the Texas Rangers on Sunday and will play the winner of the Indians-Red Sox series in the ALCS, which begins Friday, Oct. 14.

With three more potential home games to be played at the Rogers Centre, it’s better to be safe than sorry — all because one unruly fan decided to ruin it for everyone.
