On June 27, 2017, a majority of members of the U.S. House of Representatives sent a bipartisan letter to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin expressing support for the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB).
The letter highlights the value of the American system of alcohol regulation and applauds TTB’s work as the primary federal regulator of the alcohol industry. The letter also expresses support for keeping the TTB within the Treasury Department instead of moving it to the IRS.
During the 2017 NBWA Legislative Conference, independent beer distributors asked members of the House of Representatives to co-sign the letter, which was led by Reps. Kevin Yoder (KS) and Mike Quigley (IL), who are both members of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government.
