Crash deaths, DUI arrests up over Christmas holiday

More people died in crashes over the Christmas holiday and more people were arrested on suspicion of drunken driving when compared to last year, according to the California Highway Patrol. Three people died in San Diego County collisions between Friday evening and Monday morning, the CHP said. Two people died during the same holiday period in 2015.

DUI arrests were also up. Officers arrested 41 people on suspicion of driving drunk this year, up from the 34 arrests made in 2015.
