No matter how old customers are, they will be carded every time they try to buy alcohol in Montgomery County. News4’s Shomari Stone explains when and where this new policy will take effect.

Anyone who wants to purchase alcohol in Montgomery County, Maryland, should expect to get carded under new rules that go into effect in July.

Starting July 1, employees at all 27 liquor stories run by the county will ask for age identification for every person making a purchase, no matter what the age of the customer.

County officials said this new policy is to protect employees from subjective carding. Previous rules required employees to check identification for anyone who looked under the age of 35.

More information is expected to be released in May.
