VA: Native American Walk for Sobriety returns to Richmond July 15

The Richmond Standard

June 29, 2017

The Third Annual Native American Walk for Sobriety will be held in Richmond on Saturday, July 15 in order to raise awareness about the many issues surrounding alcoholism.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the United Urban Warrior Society’s California Chapter is inviting the whole community — families included — to join the walk to spread education regarding alcohol abuse, with the goal of promoting prevention.

The walk starts promptly at 11 a.m. at the intersection of San Pablo and Macdonald avenues. It ends at the Native American Wellness Center at 2566 Macdonald Ave., where bottled water and refreshments will be served.

The walk is particularly important for Richmond, which a 2012 county study revealed to have the highest number of alcohol outlets and one of the highest densities of alcohol sellers of all Contra Costa cities.
