HOLLAND, VT. (AP) — A small Vermont border town has overturned a Prohibition-era rule banning the sale of alcohol.

Holland was previously one of only four dry towns in the state, a distinction shared with Maidstone, Baltimore and Athens. WCAX-TV reports the residents of the 600-person town voted to overturn the ban on selling alcohol during Town Meeting Day Tuesday.

The vote passed with no opposition. Town Clerk Diane Judd says the vote changes nothing immediately, as Holland has no stores or restaurants.

Resident Jason Marcoux says lifting the ban means there will be one less issue for any prospective entrepreneur hoping to start a business in Holland like a brewery or even a bar.
