Ark. agency moves to revoke alcohol license after deaths

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) – The Arkansas Alcoholic Beverage Control Division has issued an order revoking the alcohol license for a Springdale concert venue, saying it was responsible for the drunk driving deaths of two men.

The Springdale Civic Center will have 15 days to appeal after it receives the official order. A letter from Division Director Bud Roberts says the venue, which holds up to 2,500 people, was already on probation for a December incident.

The division held a June 1 hearing on the March incident, in which a 19-year-old man left the venue and drove into a tree at 90 mph, killing his two passengers. FBI and state agents visited the venue in April and cited more than a dozen other violations.

Roberts wrote that the center seemed incapable of safely serving alcohol.
