Excess alcohol has to be processed by the kidneys which may become painful as the organs have to work harder than usual.

Alcohol is not good for your health as you may experience painful symptoms such as back pain, painful urination after drinking alcohol, kidney pain, headaches, nausea, fever, chills, fatigue, loss of appetite, sleeping trouble, and blood in urine.

What Causes Kidney Pain?

Kidney pain can have various reasons and it is very important to understand what is causing you discomfort. Liver disease, kidney stones, kidney infection, dehydration, gastritis, hydrenophrosis, ureteropelvic junction obstruction.

Liver Disease

Dehydration

Dehydration is never good for the kidneys as they need enough water to function properly. Drinking excess alcohol will make problems worse and impair the function of kidneys.

You may also suffer from chronic dehydration if the condition is left untreated. Electrolytes and carbohydrates can help with the treatment although sugary drinks should be avoided.

Gastritis

This condition affects the lining of stomach which becomes swollen. It can be associated with kidneys as the abdomen and kidneys both hurt.

Treatment requires avoiding alcohol to recover with the help of medicines. Also, antacids are prescribed to reduce the production of acid in the stomach

Hydronephrosis

A condition in which the kidneys swell because od urine accumulation. Blockage prevents emptying of the bladder which makes the kidneys enlarged. This can also cause painful urination after drinking alcohol.

Kidney stones and kidney infection makes symptoms worse and it is therefore important to treat any kidney related problem as soon as possible.

UPJ

UPJ obstruction also accounts for painful urination after drinking alcohol. Alcohol consumption can intensify pain and should therefore be avoided. A surgery may be required to remove obstructions in some severe cases.

How to Prevent Kidney Pain?

Alcohol consumption can also worsen overall health condition causing hypertension and diabetes. Chronic kidney disease can risk your health in several ways as the whole body gets affected adversely.

It is important to pay attention to what the body tells you as it may be reacting adversely after drinking alcohol. Reducing or avoiding alcohol altogether can help you recover from kidney pain.

It is highly recommended to drink enough water when you suffer from kidney pain. Make juices, drinks, and teas to stay hydrated. A healthy diet including fruits and vegetables will also help to reveal kidney pain. Also, try to avoid caffeine intake and exercise regularly to improve your health.
