The 2016 VIBE VISTA Award for Best Responsible Alcohol Service Program is sponsored by the National Restaurant Association.

The National Restaurant Association congratulated Hooters of America on receiving the 2016 VIBE VISTA Award for Best Responsible Alcohol Service Program. The restaurant received the award at the VIBE (Very Important Beverage Executives) conference in San Diego, California. The award is sponsored by the National Restaurant Association.

“We congratulate Hooters of America on their dedication to training their staff to sell and serve alcohol responsibly,” says Sherman Brown, senior vice president of business and financial strategy for the National Restaurant Association. “They have utilized the ServSafe Alcohol program to ensure their employees are prepared to handle any situation with the care and safety of their guests in mind.”

“At Hooters of America LLC., responsible alcohol service is at the forefront of how we care for our guests and ServSafe Alcohol provides first class training,” adds Terri Hoskins, chief human resources officer for Hooters of America. “ServSafe Alcohol certification is a condition of hire for all front-of-the-house and management team members, except where state law requires a state mandated program.”

“We utilize the ServSafe online training program in states which allows us to ensure that team members are certified at Orientation. In states that require in-person classroom certifications, these classrooms are offered every two weeks to ensure team members are certified within their first 30 days of employment,” Hoskins says.

Operators were asked to submit materials and supporting details used in their beverage promotions to the faculty at Johnson & Wales University. Awards were given for both Multi-Unit Chain Restaurants and for Hotels, Casinos & Cruise Lines.

The nominations were judged on creating positive initiatives that spark beverage sales, innovations that contribute to operational efficiencies, and training and service programs that lead to the highest quality standards and operational practices. The award for responsible beverage alcohol service highlights effective server training programs that emphasize ongoing reinforcement of training and a culture of responsible alcohol sales.

ServSafe Alcohol offers training solutions to restaurant employees in responsible alcohol service. The training program teaches employees about their personal responsibility, and how to recognize signs of intoxication in guests and manage service accordingly.
