A man is charged in connection to a scheme to steal $2,143 worth of wine from Schnucks grocery stores across St. Louis County.
Police tell News 4 Craig Gustafson confessed to hitting seven different stores between March 2016 and June 30, 2016.
Gustafson told investigators he replaced UPC codes on $50 bottles of wine so that they would ring up at only $5.
He put the codes on the palm of his hand, and scanned them at the self-checkout machines.
Gustafson faces one felony stealing charge.
